Pest controllers do not necessarily spray every room or surface. The location depends on the identified pest, activity, building, product label and selected method. Treatment may target cracks, edges, entry points, harbourage, service penetrations or selected exterior zones; baits, traps, dusts or exclusion work may be used instead of a broad spray.

What determines the treatment area?
Before treatment, the technician may consider:
- where activity has been seen;
- likely nesting, feeding or entry locations;
- kitchens, wet areas, roof voids, garages or sheds involved;
- children, pets, aquariums and sensitive occupants;
- food handling or commercial requirements;
- surfaces and areas that should not be treated;
- preparation, ventilation and re-entry directions.
Ask which locations are included and why. Also ask what must be moved, covered or left accessible, when areas can be used again, and which cleaning steps apply afterward.
Do not assume more product or more surface coverage means a better result. Correct identification, placement, sanitation, exclusion and follow-up can matter as much as the application itself.
