Termites can travel and feed through concealed parts of a house rather than living in one obvious nest inside a room. Subterranean termites may enter from soil and move around slab edges, subfloors, wall cavities, service penetrations, wet areas, roof timbers and timber touching the ground.

Areas worth checking
- slab edges hidden by services, soil or garden beds;
- subfloor supports, plumbing and low-clearance areas;
- bathrooms, laundries and kitchens with moisture issues;
- wall trims, door frames and window areas showing change;
- roof or ceiling timbers where access is safe;
- garages, decks, sheds, fences and stored timber;
- additions and service penetrations.
These locations are not proof of termites. They are places where evidence, moisture, timber or concealed access may justify closer inspection.
Do not open walls, lift flooring or break workings to search. A technician should document accessible evidence and limitations without unnecessary disturbance.
