No household scent is a dependable way to protect a house from termites. Even if an odour repels individual insects in a small area, it does not reveal the colony, entry services or concealed extent and may simply move visible activity. Do not spray essential oils, cleaners or other scented products onto suspected workings.
For confirmed or suspected activity, see termite treatment in Rockhampton.
Why “repel them” is the wrong objective
A property can have concealed termite services through soil, cracks, subfloors, slab edges or timber contact. Making one exposed spot unpleasant does not create a documented treatment zone or monitoring plan.
The useful sequence is:
- preserve the visible evidence;
- identify the insect or workings;
- inspect accessible areas and risk conditions;
- choose treatment from the findings;
- follow written inspection and maintenance advice.
If a DIY product has already been applied, keep the packaging and tell the technician where and when it was used.
